Passion Project #1: LOU

It all began with preparing for the dreaded Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC). I attended a Professional Development (PD) hosted by my district, San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD). All good ideas stem from PDs about required state assessments, am I right?

The Literacy Coaches and educators presenting focused on using PIXAR short films to build student understanding of interpreting SBAC language and connecting it to the Systems of Strategic Actions from Fountas and Pinnell (F&P)...BUT the kicker was to make it FUN and ENGAGING!

Prior to being a Literacy Coach, I was a 1st grade teacher. My pedagogy focused on hooking the students into FUN, HANDS-ON, INTERACTIVE, and EXCITING lessons.

Fast forward to March 2020.

Distance learning.

Covid-19.

Shelter in place.

Working from home.

#MamaPamTeacherMom with my son, Xavier.

Hopefully, my Literacy Passion Project #1: LOU ignites the same JOY and ENTHUSIASM in your family and teaching practice that it does for me when I cozy up in my #MsALitCo (Literacy Corner, aka my comfy reading chair in the corner of my living room) and film myself teaching.
